Trailer Training Coverage
Our main training area operates out of Swansea where you will benefit from off road facilities suitable for the trailer training exercises and easy access to the Neath test centre. With the ability to complete the course in 2days this gives good access across the whole of South Wales.
Many living in other areas of the UK have benefited from residential courses either having a one night stay over or as part of a longer break in the nearby Gower peninsula officially an area of outstanding natural beauty.
It may in certain circumstances be possible for us to come to you contact us to find out your best option.
Please note: Towing regulations are quite complex. There are exceptions where you can tow an average caravan with a car having passed your test after 1997 depending on the weight of the towing vehicle and caravan. Most commercial trailers, horseboxes, large caravans are way in excess of the allowable weight and would require this B+E test.
You will need
A standard full B Class licence to undertake this course.
We Supply
The trailer for training and test. We use an Ifor Williams BV85G Braked Box Van for our tuition which comply's with all the current regulations for the B+E Test with a MAM of 2700kg.
A suitable training vehicle, this is currently a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI although if preferred you are welcome to use your own vehicle if suitable.
Trailer Training, B+E Test Preparation Course
The course is 1 1/2 days long with the test on the second day. The test is marked at the level of HGV and therefore is of considerable higher standard than the regular practical driving test. It is not just about reversing with a trailer, it is also about improving your own driving skills.
The course starts at 8.30am and finishes approx 4.30pm on the 1st day. You will have 2 small breaks and a lunch period. The course will include trailer use and the law, loading and coupling plus the off-road handling exercise. The following day the B+E test will be arranged and you will have additional training before the test.
